I’ve just returned from the Supreme Court’s oral arguments in the SB 1070 case. The quick analysis is that, while the justices are likely to strike down many of the provisions that were before them, the so-called “show me your papers” provision requiring police to determine the immigration status many people they have “reasonable suspicion” to believe is in the country illegally is likely to survive.
