Roy Moore (R), who was twice removed as Alabama Supreme Court Justice for violating federal court orders and who has been accused by multiple women of sexually abusing them when they were teenagers, still refuses to concede the Senate Alabama election to his opponent Doug Jones (D). His latest claim is that voter fraud must have rigged the election against him.
In a fundraising email Monday — yes, a fundraising email nearly a week after the election — Moore announced that his campaign had started an “Election Integrity Program” to investigate “potential voter fraud and various other irregularities.”
The email is noticeably lacking any detail about the nature or quantity of these supposed irregularities. Secretary of State John Merrill has reportedly not received any voter fraud reports from the Moore campaign.
Merrill is investigating voter fraud, but only a concern related to one exuberant supporter at the Doug Jones victory party. The supporter claimed in an interview moments after the election was called, “We came here all the way from different parts of the country as part of our fellowship, and all of us pitched in to vote and canvas together, and we got our boy elected!”
So far, however, he’s found no evidence of any voter fraud. “We don’t have any evidence of people doing that, our numbers do not indicate that has happened, but when you have someone actually recorded on television saying that they voted, and that’s what he said, then we’ve got to get to the bottom of that,” Merrill told Fox 10.
The election is set to be certified by December 28.
Moore’s email Monday claimed that “the integrity of this election — and future elections — is hanging in the balance.” Some rumors have circulated that Moore might run for governor of Alabama in 2018.
In the meantime, his wife, Kayla Moore, dedicated the 2015 Jamie Jones song “Pissed Off Redneck” to “our favorite judge from Alabama.” She exclaimed that “Roy Moore does stand his ground and don’t [sic] back down to no political pressure and eve. [sic] now from Washington and the liberal fake news media!!!!”
The song is pro-gun, pro-school prayer, anti-immigration, anti-Muslim, anti-Obamacare, and seemingly pro-medical marijuana.
