Santorum: Marriage Is Like A Tree

Presidential candidate Rick Santorum has pointed to another random object, acknowledged a different random object, and concluded that the two are different, and thus when same-sex couples marry, it’s not “marriage.” This time, he told a reporter that a person could say “’That tree is a car.’ Well the tree’s not a car. A tree’s a tree. Marriage is marriage.” Santorum has previously made this argument, suggesting that a cup of tea is not a basketball, a cup of water is not a cup of beer, and a napkin is not a paper towel.
