This week, President Trump’s personal bodyguard, Keith Schiller, testified privately before Congress about many allegations against Trump. Three sources familiar with that testimony told NBC News that Schiller confirmed that at a Miss Universe Pageant meeting that year, a Russian participant offered to “send five women” to Trump’s Moscow hotel room. Schiller claimed he viewed the offer as a joke and responded, “We don’t do that type of stuff.” He rejected the claims in the dossier as “bullshit.”
The testimony confirms part of one of the most salacious aspects of the the Steele Dossier, which alleges that the Russians have videotape of Trump engaging in lurid sexual acts while he was in Moscow in 2013. While Trump claimed that the entire thing was a hoax, we now have evidence that there was at least an effort to send women to Trump’s room.
Schiller recounted that later that night, he and Trump laughed about the offer, but then Trump went to bed alone. After standing outside the hotel room for a time, Schiller himself then went to bed, confirming that he could not say for sure what may have happened in Trump’s room the rest of the night. He was confident, however, that nothing had happened, as they were aware of the risk that the rooms could be set up to capture video.
When BuzzFeed first published the dossier back in January, the outlet admitted that it had already identified errors in the document. In the months since then, however, many of the dossier’s unverified claims have been independently corroborated, including meetings with Russians arranged or held by many of the Trump campaign’s closest associates, including Michael Flynn, Paul Manafort, Carter Page, and Corey Lewandowski.
