U.S. Automakers Post Best August Sales Since Recession

U.S. automakers posted their best August sales this year since 2007, before the Great Recession, selling more than 1.2 million vehicles. General Motors, Chrysler, and Ford “all saw double-digit increases from August 2011 sales.” Chrysler, which was rescued by the federal government (in a move opposed by Republicans) has experienced 29 months of year-over-year sales gains.
