Ed Glaeser has a nice post on food trucks in Boston and how their quantity and quality could be improved via “a one-stop permitting process that aims at providing speedy approval seems like a step forward.”
This is something to keep in mind. When it comes to licensing and regulation there’s no necessary relationship between how stringent the rules are and how burdensome they are on would-be entrepreneurs. Simply making it easy to figure out what you’re supposed to do in order to comply with the rules can be a big help.
